At Lingo our speech therapist has a love for working with children and youth with experience working in early intervention, public schools, and private therapy. High-quality, goal-driven speech language therapy is our passion. We nourish potential with individual therapy and believe everyone needs a plan as unique as they are. Our SLPs provide comprehensive formal and informal assessments in order to accurately obtain an overview of our clients' areas of need and establish therapy goals. At Lingo we believe in a holistic approach to speech language therapy. We ensure that caregivers, teachers and other therapists are all connected to nourish communicative growth.
Ashley Gilstad M.S., CCC-SLP – owner
Ashley is a speech-language pathologist originally from Winnipeg, Canada. She attended Minot State University on a softball scholarship where she received her bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders. She then went on to compete all over the world for the Canadian National Olympic Team as a pitcher before returning and pursuing her Mater’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Ashley is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and a licensed Speech Therapist in North Dakota.
Ashley’s passion to become a Speech Pathologist was reignited when her first-born was 28 weeks premature and remained in the NICU for over 3 months. Early Intervention became a large part of his recovery and she is forever indebted to the program and professionals for his success. This experience motivated her to return to school as a mother and complete her Masters degree so that she could share her experiences, empathy, and skills with other families seeking assistance for their children’s developmental success.
Ashley worked as an Early Interventionist for 4 years, moved on to the private sector, and school based speech pathology to further develop her skills and passion for working with children and youth. She has experience with a variety of communication disorders including expressive and receptive language disorders and delays, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA training for children with autism), social pragmatic disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, myofunctional therapy and phonological processing disorders.
Outside of her career and business owner, she is an artist featuring her works at small vendor shows and local galleries, coaches softball pitching clinics, and lives just outside the city with her husband and son on 7 acres with 2 cats, 4 dogs, and 3 horses.
